About the producer
Marchesi Antinori is one of Tuscany's most respected families, with winemaking roots going back to 1385. Tignanello was their breakthrough wine, created in 1971 as a modern Tuscan red that blends local and international grapes.
About the year
The 2017 vintage in Tuscany was warm and dry, producing wines with ripe fruit and good balance. At this age, the wine has settled into a harmonious state where its different components work together smoothly.
Grape characteristics
Sangiovese gives the wine its savoury heart and food-friendly character. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc add depth, richness and the ability to age gracefully for two decades or more.
About the region
Tuscany's rolling hills and Mediterranean climate create ideal conditions for both traditional and international grape varieties. The region's limestone-rich soils add complexity and elegance to red wines.
Tasting profile
Expect blackcurrant and plum with undertones of tobacco leaf and dried herbs. The wine is full-bodied but refined, with acidity that keeps it fresh and food-friendly rather than heavy.
Serving suggestions
Serve at 65 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Decant for 30 minutes before serving to open up the aromas. Use a large red wine glass to let the wine breathe.
