About the producer
Zenato is a family estate in the Veneto that has built its reputation on the classic wines of the region, particularly the Amarone style.
About the year
2017 was a warm, dry vintage in Veneto that produced ripe, concentrated wines. This wine has aged gracefully and is drinking well now.
Grape characteristics
Ripassa uses the same grapes as Amarone but a different method: the wine is re-fermented on the dried skins left over from Amarone production, giving it richness and depth without the heaviness of a full Amarone.
About the region
Veneto's Valpolicella zone sits in the foothills north of Verona, where the climate and limestone soils create wines of elegance and balance. The region has perfected the art of drying grapes to concentrate their flavours.
Tasting profile
Expect ripe dark fruit, dried cherry and plum, with hints of chocolate and spice. The wine is smooth and approachable, with enough weight to satisfy but enough freshness to keep you coming back.
Serving suggestions
Serve at 16 to 18 degrees Celsius in a large red wine glass. No decanting needed, though it will open up over an hour in the glass.
Also pairs well with

- • Roasted duck
